Researchers and innovators in Switzerland can participate in Horizon Europe. Swiss entities can apply as Beneficiaries from programme year 2025 onward. Running projects and open calls until programme year 2024 are funded by the Swiss government.

Current Association Status

As of 1 January 2025 the EU has fully activated the transitional arrangement that allows Swiss organisations to apply as "Beneficiaries" to almost all Horizon Europe and Euratom calls from the 2025 programme year onward. The transitional arrangement 2024 remains also into force, allowing researchers in Switzerland to apply in the ERC Advanced Grants 2024 call as ‘Beneficiary’.

How Do I Apply to Horizon Europe?

You can participate in most of the Horizon Europe calls under the following conditions:

- You apply in the role of Beneficiary in all Horizon Europe calls from the 2025 programme year onward and request your budget to the EC. If your project is successfully awarded and the Swiss association to Horizon Europe is not yet finalised at the time of the Grant Agreement signature, your role will be change into Associated Partner and will receive funding from the Swiss Government  (Financial Guarantee 2025).

- You apply in the role of Associated Partner to all Horizon Europe calls until the 2024 programme year with the exception of ERC Advanced Grants 2024 calls. The funding is provided by the Swiss Government (Financial Guarantee 2024)
