What is a Partnership?

European Partnerships are initiatives in which the EU Commission and private and/or public partners commit themselves to jointly support the development and implementation of a research and innovation program. They make a significant contribution to achieving the EU's political priorities, such as the Green Deal, Europe's digital strategy or pandemic preparedness.

Partnerships Types

There are three types of Horizon Europe Partnerships:

Institutionalised: partnerships in the field of research and innovation between the Union, EU member states and/or industry. For institutionalised partnerships (except for EuroHPC), Swiss participants will receive direct funding from SERI.

- Co-programmed: partnerships between the Union and mostly private partners. For co-programmed partnerships, Swiss participants will receive direct funding from SERI.

Co-funded: partnerships involving EU countries, with research funders and other public authorities at the core of the consortium. See the Swiss eligibility section for each co-funded partnership for information regarding funding.

Swiss Eligibility

Despite Switzerland’s non-association to Horizon Europe, Swiss entities can participate as Associated Partners in most of the Partnership calls. Certain rules and exceptions apply depending on the call and partnership. Please refer to each individual Partnership and the Legal & Financial Rules section for further information.
