The Human Brain Project was a European initiative that ran from 2013 to 2023. It pioneered a new paradigm in brain research at the interface of computing and technology. This European Commission report describes its activities and results. A European Partnership for Brain Health will be launched in the near future.

The Global Health European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership 3 (EDCTP3) invests in global health by funding collaborative projects that tackle infectious diseases and supporting activities for research capacity building in Africa. Developed within the VolREthics initiative, the "Global Ethics Charter for the Protection of Healthy Volunteers in Clinical Trials” aims to share and discuss best practices, so that each country can decide on the best way to protect healthy volunteers in biomedical research. The charter is available in several languages.

Join the Innovative Advanced Materials Initiative (IAM-I) and help shape the future of advanced materials! IAM-I is the new non-profit association that will operate the upcoming European partnership “Innovative Advanced Materials for Europe” (IAM4EU). Organisations registered as IAM-I members are invited to submit their applications for the Executive Board and Association Delegation.

Swiss-based researchers are now eligible to apply for the ERC Consolidator Grant (CoG) and Proof of Concept Grant (PoC)! The CoG is open to those 7-12 post-PhD with a track record showing great promise, for projects of up to 5 years and €2 million. The PoC is open to ERC grantees with an ongoing main grant or who were PIs in a main grant that ended after 1 January 2024.

The “Start-ups Meet Pharma” programme is in partnership with Abbott and EIT Health. The first challenge of 2024 is to look for solutions that predict the stability of nutritional ingredients under specified treatment conditions based on published literature. Whether through an app, a database or a programme, solutions and recommendations are sought.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with its first 3 Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs): EIT Climate, EIT Digital, and EIT InnoEnergy. It establishes that each KIC will continue to offer activities aligned with the EIT model (education, innovation and business creation) and remain part of the EIT community.

The pitch presentations from the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) brokerage event in November are now available. The networking platform will remain open until the call deadline in 2025, allowing you to continue connecting and collaborating with participants. Questions submitted via Slido were addressed during the "Ask the Expert" session and the responses are available in the Slido app.

A series of online information sessions on the upcoming call for a new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community in the water, marine, maritime sectors and ecosystems was organised this autumn.
